Galloway School Tours

The Learning Experience

Learning Objectives
There can be a variety of learning objectives on any trip, from detailed understanding of a particular subject theme such as World War I, to more subtle but valuable Citizenship learning as a by product of participating in a group travelling to a foreign land and culture.

The Group Leader should be clear about these when planning the trip and it is important that these are discussed with Galloway to ensure the learning opportunities and materials available are matched in the best possible way. We want the tour to be of the greatest benefit possible to the students, teachers and school or college.

Opportunities
Each tour or trip we offer has a variety of optional visits. The choice of these depends upon the objectives of the trip, the ages and abilities of the group and time available. We will supply the Group Leader with a list of visits available for their tour with details of the learning opportunities they present.

Resources
We have a range of Study Notes and other materials which are supplied free of charge to Group Leaders. We can also provide guidance about publications and links to other resources that could provide useful teaching materials.

Outcomes
We ask all our group leaders to complete an Evaluation Form at the conclusion of the trip and the purpose of this is to check on a variety of aspects, but particularly the success in meeting the original objectives.
